SATURDAY - Celebrating Aunt Lou's Birthday

Late Saturday morning Marc and I visited Aunt Lou to help her celebrate her actual Birthday. Also present were Dallas Junior, David and Melissa and their kids Jonathan, Benjamin, Gabriel, and Catherine. Everybody was looking good, and we spent most of the afternoon talking and visiting. Aunt Lou cooked some ribs and prepared a salad for lunch. And of course we had more of her yummy red velvet cake. Monica's mother stopped by brielfy to talk and visit.

Aunt Lou told us a little more about our Pitre Grandparents. Our Grandmother Alida Soileau Pitre passed away in June 1950 on Uncle Dallas's Birthday. Uncle Dallas helped Grandfather Joe Pitre buy the house in "town"/Ville Platte, which Grandfather Joe Pitre, Aunt Dory, Aunt Marilyn, and Mom moved into in September of that same year. That house was subseuquently sold after Grandfather Joe Pitre passed away. Apparently, Grandfather Joe Pitre died of kidney failure. And on the subject of Pitre houses, nobody seems to have a photograph of the house our Grandparents lived in during the 1920s and 1930s nor the sharecropper house they moved into when our Mom was born.

Aunt Lou and crew were going to Ville Pltte for her Great-Granddaughter Savannah's Birthday party, so Marc and I said our goodbyes and left around 4. We ran several errands and returned to our hotel later that night to relax and vegetate. And that was our Saturday visits for 2011.
