WEDNESDAY - Dinner with David and Melissa

I flew into Houston Wednesday afternoon. Despite the threatening thunderclouds, my flight was on time for a change and everything went smoothly. Marc picked me up at the airport, and we drove to our hotel. Well, it turned out that our hotel overbooked their rooms and did not have a room for us. So they booked us into a hotel in the Woodlands (which ended up working out well for our trip to see Uncle Jimmy the next morning). We had just enough time to leave our original hotel and drive to David and Melissa's house for dinner. We arrived a few minutes before David and spent the time visiting with Melissa and their kids. Catherine, David and Melissa's new baby girl, was quite fussy until Daddy got home. As soon as David picked her up, she was all smiles and goo-goo. She is definitely Daddy's little girl.

Melissa cooked up an awesome dinner of shrimp etouffee (David actually peeled and added the shrimp) and chicken parmesan with yummy cornbread. For dessert she served up a delicious chocolate mousse. Over dinner we discussed various relatives and old friends and David and Melissa's Wedding back in 2002. Important safety tip; check with David before asking about some of Melissa's friends. David and Melissa and the kids are all doing great. David and Melissa did a little house remodeling in the room next to the kitchen. And a cat seems to have adopted them (you know how cats are). David and Melissa also told us that the Houston area was experiencing a drought. They had maybe 2 inches of rain in the past 6 months. And they got rain the morning that Marc and I arrived in Houston; that was it. Weird weather! After a couple of hours of visiting Marc and I said our godobyes and headed to our hotel and crashed. And that was our Wednesday in Houston.
