Thursday we had lunch with our old family friends Mike and Cathy Gold at COYOTE BLUES® by the ACADIANA MALL®. We caught up on various current events like the BP oil spill and old classic adventures involving Mike's Great Dane. Mike also told us about his classic BUICK® convertible and offered to take us for a ride (next trip Mike). Afterwards, we visited Aunt Dory and caught up on various family events. That evening I devoured the rest of Aunt Lou's red velvet cake. Every year I say that I am going to pace myself and only eat a little each day or night. And every year I inhale it. It's just too good to eat in moderation!
Friday morning we met with Rick, our accountant, and Kent Pierret at STONE ENERGY® , where Dad worked, to discuss some business matters. Of course, we visited with Syble Charlot and other other people we recognized. Hard to believe that Dad has been gone 14 years. As we were leaving we met up with Cliff Giroir. He looked great, and that is saying something because the last time we saw him (May 2006) he was having heart surgery. After a quicl lunch we met with another one of Dad's STONE ENERGY® buddies and co-wirkers, Joe Klutts. We had a great visit, and Joe told us a couple of "Dad" stories (not to be confused with "Dan" stories, which concern the crazy things that I do) that we never heard before. The first involved Dad driving to New Orleans to eat bacon at the COURT OF 2 SISTERS® at the company's expense (Yep, that was our Dad; he hated paying for anything). Thte second story involved how Dad ended up getting the blue TOYOTA pickup truck after STONE ENERGY® stopped providing company cars. I can hear Dad pinching his pennies even now. Heck, I can hear the poor house calling "poooor houseeee", "poooor houseeee".
After visiting with Joe, we moved on to visiting Aunt Lou. We wished her a happy birthday and sat and visited a while. One of her neighbors came by with a minor drama for a few minutes. Then David and Melissa arrived with their kids Jonathan, Gabriel, and Benjamin. Well, the kids sure livened things up! We visited for a while longer. Then Aunt and David and Melissa and the boys went to eat dinner while Marc and I returned to our hotel room to crash and prepare for the next day's visiting. And that was our Friday visits.
