WEDNESDAY - Celebrating Aunt Lou's Birthday

Wednesday morning Marc and I drove to the Oil Center and bought some flowers for Mom and Dad from LA FLEUR'S Flowers and Gifts, where Pearl now works part time (although we did not see her this time as she was working at her other job). Then we drove to the cemetery and put the flowers on Mom and Dad's graves. We visited with Mom and Dad and Aunt Hazel for a little while..

Afterwards we drove over to visit Aunt Lou for her Birthday. We visited with Aunt Lou until almost 05:00PM. Aunt Lou was in fine form, talking up a storm about pretty much everything. Although she no longer has a desire to travel. Aunt Lou heated up some shrimp gumbo while Marc ran an errand. When he got back we feasted on Aunt Lou's yummy shrimp gumbo. Then she pulled out her world famous red velvet cake (minus the red food dye because she ran out of it, which was fine with me because it makes me seriously hyper). Fantastic as usual. I had 2nds of course. Felix stopped by briefly to help us with the Birthday cake..

We talked about Mom and Dad for a while. Starting with the house on Kim Drive that Mom and Dad owned when I and Marc were born. Felix and Gai later figured out the street address. Then Aunt Lou about sending Mom Rice and Coffee when we lived in Charleston, West Virginia. She did not recall Dad's love affair with Chicory Coffee, nor whether Mom and Dad drove through Sequoia National Park or the Redwoods along Highway 101 when driving up to see Grandma and Grandpa in Oregon back in December 1962.

Around 5 we said our goodbyes to Aunt Lou and slowly made our way back to our hotel. And such was our humble attempt to help Aunt Lou celebrate her Birthday this year.
