THURSDAY

Visiting Silver Falls State Park in Oregon

I woke up with a scratchy throat. I left the house on time but forgot my Fuji GA645Wi medium format rangefinder camera and tripod. And I did not realize that I had forgotten them until I was clear out of Portland, so I felt really annoyed with myself about forgetting that. I got to the park around 08:10AM. The temperature was about 58 degrees Fahrenheit, so I felt fantastic.

I recalled the South Falls from our visit with Mom and Dad and Grandma and Grandpa back in 1972. I saw a mother and baby deer at the waterfall's top, which felt really cool. I relaxed and enjoyed my hike. I skipped the Twin Falls because I felt lazy; dumb mistake. The waterfall was not that far of a walk after all. The North Falls was spectacular; I loved it. The Winter Falls was dry. A local hiker recommended coming in May to see the waterfalls at their best. I enjoyed my hike thoroughly. I bought some gifts for everyone and drove back to Portland. Curiously, I did not see any Epsresso shops driving from Portland through Salem and on to Silver Falls State Park.

Lunch at VERDE COCINA

I drove to VERDE COCINA for a late lunch and found a parking spot right in front of the restaurant. I felt great about that; my Luck had changed for the better. I ate a delicious lunch of guacamole with corn tortillas and quesadillas of the day plus vegetables, bacon, and sausage. Delicious! After enjoying my lunch, I drove back to Jackie and Steve's house. I missed my left turn and had to drive through Washington Park to get back to the house. Very frustrating!

Visiting with Jules

I arrived at Jackie and Steve's house to find their friend Jules visiting. Jules was his usual fun self. We discussed the South, his and Ellie's 2nd home in Lake Tahoe, driving in ice and snow (go slow), etc. After visiting with Jules I stepped out on to the back patio outside the kitchen and accidentally locked myself out of the house. More frustration! What a frustrating day!

After Jackie let me back into the house, I took a shower. Then I visited some more with Jules. At which point Steve and Jules decided to go drinking (alcohol). I declined to join their adventure, and assisted Jackie with feeding the kids. Then Jackie, washed, dried, and folded my clothes, for which I was very grateful. Then we watched 3 episodes of DOCTOR WHO. And then I went to bed and slept. And such was my last day in Portland.
