I took both of these photographs at the "Faerie Ring", although at different times. The 1st photograph is a follow on to the previous horizontal photograph of the horizontal dead tree trunk. Again, the main Redwood tree trunks form bold simple shapes that move your eyes through the scene and shape the negative spaces around them. I really like this photo. I feel that the colors are a little muted, but not too bad. What looks like sunlight in the background was just the sky blowing out because my film could not handle the dynamic range of this scene. Still, I like the effect.
The 2nd photo is a follow on to the earlier photo, only taken after sunrise. As you can see, the colors are richer, the scene has a higher contrast and looks much more dramatic and exciting than the previous shot. This photo has a different feeling than the previous shot. I like both photos but prefer this shot for the richer, more saturated colors. I like both of these photos equally; they are both cool.
I took these photographs with my Fuji GSW690III MF Rangefinder camera and Fuji VELVIA 100 film.
