These Redwoods were a little further down the trail along a creek or wash that runs down the mountain. What looks like mist is actually the blown out sky.

I like the top photo because of how the 2 large Redwood tree trunks on the right stand out and yet still balance the surrounding trees. I also love the different varieties of green leaves, from an almost emerald green in the top to the bluish-green sort of Viridian in the middle and left to the yellow green on the upper right.

The bottom photo feels more earthy and monochromatic, more brown. I also like how the dead tree trunk is at an angle, leading you eyes into the background. And I like how the creek and 2 Redwood tree trunks in the foreground are like gatekeepers, directing your eyes from the foreground into the midground.

I took these photographs with my Fuji GSW690III MF Rangefinder camera and Fuji VELVIA 100 film.
