Adele and I went to Big Sur for her Birthday. The 1st couple of nights we stayed at the Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park. And these photos come from that initial stay. I got up early on the 4th and photographed these Redwoods at the trailhead. I took a MF camera instead of my LF camera gear because I was not sure what I would find and how much hiking I would have to do to photograph these Redwoods.
I took these photographs with my Fuji GSW690III MF Rangefinder camera and Fuji VELVIA 100 film. I felt that the 3:2 aspect ratio of MF/6x9 film communicated the immense height of these Redwood trees. Well okay, they are not as tall as the old growth Redwoods in northern California, but compared to the surrounding trees they were huge. And they felt great, like all of the Redwoods.
I love both photos.
