SUNDAY - Brunch at the SCREEN DOOR Breakfast Restaurant

We went to the SCREEN DOOR for brunch. I was not hungry, so I did not eat anything. And looking at the menu, I did not see anything that I could eat anymore :-( So after brunch I wandered around the block photographing the really cool houses that I saw. I felt pleasantly surprised that the blue and gold house offered massage and healing practices. After everybody finished eating and paid for the brunch, we walked back to our car. We drove up Mount Tabor and around Tabor Park, which was fun. Then we drove down Hawthorne Street, where we stopped because Marc and Steve wanted to peek at recumbent bicycles through a bike shop window. Then we returned home.

Visiting the Portland Riverfront District

I practiced Yoga and played a solitary game of pool. Then we departed for the Portland riverfront district. We briefly visited the Japanese American Historical Plaza, dedicated to those Japanese people who lost their land and property during World War II when they were incarcerated. The plaza was open and peaceful, and with the sunny weather, felt very different than the plaza's purpose to remember such an unhappy event. Thte kids played footbal for a little while. Afterwards, we walked around the weekend market and shopped. The riverfront weekend market was like other weekend markets that you find across the country, colorful and quirky and lots of interesting things to look at and occasionally buy. We all ended up buying a few items.

After shopping at the weekend market, we walked back to the car and drove to VERDE COCINA. I ate lunch (my now usual guacamole with soft corn tortillas and steak salad), while Marc drank 2 house Margaritas and a beer. Except for the beer, we loved our choices. Meanwhile, Jackie and Steve and the kids went to Chapman Park to exercise the kids. They subsequently stopped at a juice bar, then picked us up, and drove home.

After returning home, I cannot recall what we did. Must have been a slow night. And such was out last full day in Portland.
