SATURDAY - Breakfast with Aunt Pat and MarLyn

We met Aunt Pat and MarLyn at LUGO'S restaurant for breakfast. We had a blast visiting with them and hearing about their lives and of course eating a yummy breakfast. MarLyn talked a bit more this time and told us about her life. She has 3 children: 2 boys and a girl. MarLyn got married at 18. She had 3 sisters, all older than her. Her Dad raised them all to be competitive. She was born and raised in Kansas along the run from Kansas to Denver. She raised rabbits for sale. She talked about the racism against African-Americans and lynchings in Kansas and the separate water fountains. She and her former husband moved to Ridgecrest in 1956. MarLyn talked about "termination winds"; winds that would cause people to leave Ridgecrest after 1 year. ? of the people at Ridgecrest would move out after 1 year due to the fierce winds.

Aunt Pat talked about playing YAHTZEE with MarLyn and 2 of her sisters and winning. Also, that she lived in Portland during her college years near Jackie and Steve's house. She even printed a photo of her old apartment complex, which she gave to me. She talked about inviting Grandma and Grandpa for David's Birth and how Grandma would get confused about what to fix Uncle Bill for lunch; she could not decide what type of sandwich to make for Uncle Bill.

After a long happy visit of several hours with Aunt Pat and MarLyn, we finally said our goodbyes and returned to our hotel. About an hour later I realized that I had forgotten the photo that Aunt Pat printed for me, so I returned to LUGO'S and retrieved it. Fortunately, the photo was sitting right where I left it, with a couple that Aunt Pat and MarLyn introduced Marc and me to at breakfast.
