SATURDAY - Afternoon and Evening

Visiting the MATURANGO MUSEUM with Uncle Bill

We met Uncle Bill at the MATURANGO MUSEUM and learned more about Sidewinder Missiles and local animals like the endangered species the Mojave Ground Squirrel, Mountain Lions and Bobcats, and other critters. A local astronomer gave a presentation on our solar system, which was fun. Then Marc and I did some gift shopping. Then we left. Marc and I stopped for beer and gas, then drove over to Uncle Bill and Lynne's house.

Dinner with Uncle Bill and Lynne and crew

Marc and Uncle Bill started drinking beer shortly after we arrived. Then we sat down to watch the LSU-Arkansas college football game, while Uncle Bill grilled some Tri Tips. I asked Uncle Bill a few questions about growing up, and he told me a little more about growing up in Warrenton.

Tom and Hunter joined us before dinner, which consisted of salad, baked potatoes, and Tri Tips, with cookies and banana cake for dessert. All very yummy. Then Tom's girlfriend Rachel arrived with her son Richard. Hunter and Richard got a little rambunctious as the dinner went on. Then Hunter started wheezing (he also has asthma), so Tom, Hunter, Rachel, and Richard left shortly after dinner. Lynne went to bed during the 4th Quarter. Sadly, LSU lost during overtime. Afterwards, Uncle Bill showed us some photos of the Maddux family from the 1930s, 1940s, and early 1950s. Some of them I had not seen before. Then Marc and I said goodbye to Uncle Bill and returned to our hotel to crash for the night. And such was our Saturday.
