Uncle Bill experienced some health issues this Summer. So Marc and I drove over to California to visit him and his wife Lynne and whatever other Madduxes we could scrounge up this September. We figured Uncle Bill would need a month or 2 to recover before being able to cause real trouble again. The last time I had seen Uncle Bill was 7 years ago when he and Lynne came to Sedona for a visit. Driving from Sedona the trip took a brisk 8 hours or so.

We arrived just in time for dinner, which was great because we were definitely hungry. We met Uncle Bill and Lynne and Tom and his son Hunter at a local hotel restaurant whose name now escapes me. I had not seen Tom and Hunter since they came to Sedona 3 years ago. So basically I had not seen any of them in quite a while! I think Marc had been over to visit in the past year or so. Anyhow, we had a delicious dinner at the restaurant. I mustered all of my strength and courage to avoid eating the peanut butter cheesecake dessert. Yes it was tough but I did it.

Afterwards, we wandered over to Uncle Bill and Lynne's home to visit some more. I even got to visit with Tom and Hunter a little bit. I really enjoyed catching up with Uncle Bill and Lynne and Tom and Hunter. Hunter has grown a lot in 3 years! Tom told me about Mount Whitney, and we are planning to hike it next year. Victory or death! Uncle Bill also talked a little about Maddux family history (which of course I no longer recall; next time I will bring my camcorder and videotape our conversations!).
