SATURDAY

Saturday morning Marc and I took it easy; we slept late and slowly made our way to Uncle Bill and Lynne's house around 10-ish. the weather was still very windy and cool; surprisingly cool for late April in Ridgecrest. We then hooked up with Uncle Bill to see some of Tom's tile work on a house remodel he was doing. Tom's tile work is impressive; definitely worth hiring for tile jobs that you want done right. Tom showed us some wood-looking tiles that he was laying; they looked really cool. Then Tom asked us to take Hunter with us to the base museum. Along the way we stopped at HOME DEPOT® and got a couple of things that Tom needed for his tile job. We then drove over to the base museum, after a friendly reminder from Lynne that we were temporally challenged.

At the base museum Uncle Bill showed us the missiles that he worked on while working for the Navy, like the SHRIKE and HARM. He also told us about all of the missiles on display and some of the people thathe worked with; really cool stuff. He even showed us a photo on display featuring a submersible that he worked on called the MORAY, which included him (well, the back of his head).

After visiting the museum,we drove back to Uncle Bill and Lynne's house. We proceeded to watch some more THE SHARK TANK® episodes, while Uncle Bill and I drank some of his smooth smooth Tequila. Very nice Tequila. When dinner rolled around, we drove over to VICTORIA'S® restaurant at the HERITAGE INN® hotel. We ate a great dinner, then drove around Ridgecrest (well technically Lynne drove and we rode). Lynne drove us by the Ridgecrest Community College campus, then the house the Uncle Bill built in the early 1970s, and finally some friends homes in the same neighborhood. We also got a scenic view of Ridgecrest after dark from up on the ridge. Very pretty.

We returned to Uncle Bill and Lynne's house and talked while waiting for Tom to arrive (which was about 5 minutes later). Tom enlightened us about his new girlfriend and life in Ridgecrest. Lynne told us about her time in Japan in the early 1970s with her 2 daughters and then moving back to the USA and in particular San Diego. Uncle Bill told us about building the house that we saw and constantly working on it up until the day he sold it. We visited for a couple of hours, then said our goodbyes and headed back to our hotel.
