A Cajun Mother's Day - 2002

SATURDAY - Visiting with family

Saturday morning I worked on my computer some more. For lunch we hooked up with Aunt Dory and Felix and Gai. We ate at BLACK'S® restaurant (now, sadly, closed) in Abbeville. BLACK'S® is a seafood restaurant which serves good Cajun food. After lunch we returned home and Steve prepared some coffee. Aunt Dora brought over a cake. We spent most of the afternoon visiting. Sister Jeanette came by and visited for an hour or so. That evening my back was bothering me, so I slept. And such was our Saturday.

SUNDAY - Mother's Day

Sunday morning I transferred images and software from various CDs onto my computer. Marc and Dara arrived around 11:00. We visited for a while then motored over to Mom's favorite restaurant, RUTH'S CHRIS Steak House®. We got the Fortune 500 room in the far corner of the restaurant. Our waiter was kind enough take a picture of Dara, Mom, Marc, Aunt Dory, Jackie, Steve, and me. Steve brought along a bottle of QUINTESSA®, which we drank to toast Mother's Day. We ate plenty of steaks and red meat, except for Marc who got the halibut special. And for dessert Dara and Marc split the chocolate cheesecake, Aunt Dory got John Dempsey's favorite, the creme broulee, Jackie got strawberries and whipped cream, Jackie and Steve split a white chocolate bread pudding, and I also got a white chocolate bread pudding. Mom wimped out on us and did not get a dessert. After lunch, we went home and visited briefly. Aunt Dory left for Aunt Lou's, and then Mom opened her gifts. As I mentioned earlier, I gave her Mary Anne's pastels. Marc, Jackie and Steve gave her expensive jewelry (Is there any other kind? :-). After Mom opened her gifts, we sat around the living room and visited. After a couple of hours, Dara returned home. Since we ate such a large lunch, we did not eat much of anything for dinner. That evening we watched a little rugby; the Crusaders stomped the Waratahs (Australian and New Zealand teams). And that was our Mother's Day for this year.

MONDAY - Saying goodbye

Monday morning Jackie took Mom to get her treatment. Steve worked most of the morning. I lounged around the house. Marc got up a little later than us and rode Mom's stationary bike for an hour or so. For lunch Mom ate at home. Marc, Jackie and Steve, and I dined at THE BLUE DOG CAFE® restaurant. After lunch we returned home. Marc and Steve went out to BEST BUY®, while Mom and Jackie ran a few errands. That evening I drove back to Texas. And such was our Monday and Mother's Day celebration for 2002.
