A Cajun Wedding Reception

David and Melissa got married last month up in Melissa's home state of New York. They had a wedding reception as well. However, not all of the Pitre family could make it to the wedding, so Felix and Gai held another wedding reception in Louisiana for the unfortunate souls who did not make it to the wedding. Mom and Marc left before me on account of I had unexpected difficulties installing Red Hat 8.0 LINUX. When I arrived, I found David's friend Jack, Marc, and the Newlyweds Melissa and David chowing down. Also present when I arrived were Gai, Louis, Aunt Lou, and Julie . Julie is Aunt Hazel and Uncle Tom's oldest daughter. In the background are Eric and Lynne's daughter Erica, and 2 unknown kids/relatives. As you can see, Felix and Gai hosted this reception in their back yard. Continuing onwards, we have Dallas, Felix, Uncle Lee's daughter Susan, Mom, and David's friend Henri . Uncle Lee is Aunt Lou's brother. So for the rest of the Pitre family, he is kind of our 2nd Uncle. Thus, Susan is Felix, Richard, Dallas, Eric, Louis, and David's cousin, and for the rest of us, our 2nd cousin. Dallas was in fine form that afternoon, talking up a storm. Felix and Gai set out plenty of food, with help from Lynne and Monica and Aunt Lou I understand. Gai made a Peanut Butter Cheesecake. Yes, the legendary Peanut Butter Cheesecake which I love so much. Gai is now officially my favorite cousin-in-law :-) Aunt Lou also made her world-famous Red Velvet Cake. I also understand the gumbo was really good, but did not try it myself. Here we have Dallas expounding to Henri with Aunt Dora chowing down in the background . Moving along, we have part of Julie, Felix, Gai and Monica behind him, Aunt Lou, and Susan, with Erica walking up . Arriving a little while later were Dallas's older daughter contingent; namely, Dallas (sitting), Heather's husband Shane, Heather holding their daughter Christy, and Haley . Heather is the oldest, then Haley, then Doug (no picture of him this time), and Aleeda. Of course, the whole point of this wedding reception was to give David and Melissa gifts, so Louis and Monica's daughter Jessica brought along their gift for the Newlyweds. Also present were (part of) Lynne sitting, Shane, Haley, Heather and Christy, Julie, Dallas, and (part of) David holding a drink. I tried several times to get a shot of Heather and Shane's daughter Christy facing the camera; here is my first try, with David's legs, Louis, Christy looking away, Heather looking at the camera, Gai preparing for a stealth shot, and Lynne wearing that evil purple and gold jacket . As the sun went down, we retired to inside the house, where it was warmer. The big moment had arrived for the Newlyweds to open their gifts. Of course, such a momentous occasion requires a momentous speaker, so Dallas expounded once again, with Aunt Dora, Gai, Melissa, Felix, Aleeda, Dallas, David, and Susan . Once Dallas commenced the gift-opening ceremony, David and Melissa started unwrapping gifts. While we waited with breathless anticipation, David and Melissa opened their gifts. Standing around watching were Gai, Aunt Dora, Aunt Lou, Melissa, Jessica, David, Felix, and Susan . Also present were Julie, Felix and Susan (again), Monica, Haley, and Mom . Also present, but not caught in the act were Louis and me. After much stealth photography, I finally caught Heather and Shane's daughter Christy facing the camera. So now everybody can see their daughter :-) Also for posterity, here is Julie with Marc and Felix . Since we see Julie so rarely, I figured I better take her picture while the taking was good. Okay, back to the action. After opening everything, we found that David and Melissa racked up with cooking and kitchen utensils. And here is the stash . Around 6:30 Mom decided she was ready to go, so we departed. Once again, Felix and Gai had thrown a great party with plenty of great food. And such was David and Melissa's Louisiana Wedding Reception.
