THURSDAY - Turkey Day

Thursday morning Mom heated the food from A LA CARTE®. Mom also started setting the dinner table . Marc's girlfriend Dara arrived around lunch time. She brought a peanut butter cheesecake that she made herself. We all sat and visited in the living room while waiting for the food to reheat. When the turkey finished reheating, I humbly sliced the cooked bird in my own inimitable fashion. Mom and Jackie finished setting the dinner table . Around noon, we finally sat down and ate our Thanksgiving meal . In case the picture did not come out well, I will describe our entrees (Joan and Wendy, sorry :-). We had turkey, buttered rolls/biscuits, creamed spinach and artichokes, squash, lasagna, cornbread dressing, macque choux, crawfish pies, and bowls of corn and crab bisque. Steve located and poured the red wine. The corn and crab bisque, crawfish pies, macque choux (in my opinion), and squash were all excellent. Strangely enough, the turkey was quality-challenged. After consuming vast quantities of food, we moved on to coffee and desserts. Again, we had pumpkin and apple pies from A LA CARTE® and peanut butter cheesecake from Dara. Well, Dara's cheesecake was awesome. Peanut Butter Cheesecake is now officially my absolute favorite dessert. I liked it so much I had 2 pieces, and Marc cleaned out everybody's plate who did not finish their pieces (it's a Maddux tradition to clean out plates :-). Dara's cheesecake was much better than the other 2 desserts, which were kind of quality-challenged.

After stuffing ourselves with dessert, we returned to the living room and let our meal digest . Later that afternoon, Marc and Dara and Steve and Jackie drove around looking at houses. Mom and I cleared the dining room table . Mom then washed the dishes. Afterwards, Mom took a nap while I played mahjongg on Mom's computer. About an hour later, the sightseers returned, and we resumed visiting in the living room. Around 6 o'clock Dara departed for home. We then sat down for a dinner of leftovers. Afterwards, Steve watched the news. Mom and Jackie did their own thing. I read the PNG 1.2 Specification (PNG is a graphics file format. In other words, really dry reading :-). Marc and Steve watched the extra features included with THE THIRD MAN®. I then joined them to watch a movie called STARTUP.COM®. STARTUP.COM® is a documentary about the rise and fall of an internet startup company. Steve thought the movie was pretty accurate. An interesting movie. And such was our Thanksgiving day.
