July 4th in Louisiana

I do not recall this event anymore. However, I have the photos. Jackie and Steve and I drove into Lafayette to visit Mom for the 4th of July holiday. The chemo was really causing Mom problems and discomfort, so Marc and I took turns vsiting Mom for a week at a time. The July 4th holiday was my week. Furthermore, the doctors had diagnosed Mom stage IV, meaning the cancer had spread beyond the initial tumor. Her oncologist had recommended aggressive chemo as her best option, with no guarantee that it would work. So this whole time we were all feeling very concerned and upset about whether Mom would go into remission or not. So Jackie and Steve and I visited with Mom and comforted her the best we could. And that was basically our whole July 4th holiday.

Mom moved into the new house when Tropical Storm Allison hit Lafayette and Houston in early June. Marc and I were helping Mom and Martha organize the movers to get Mom's stuff from her old townhouse into the new house while the storm was going. The chemo really knocked Mom down, and she just stayed at the new house lying on her mattress. The movers finished around 4:00AM the next morning (they were late starting because of another job and did not get to us until the afternoon). Marc and I ended up setting up our own beds just to finish up with the movers.
