SUNDAY - Easter and Mom's Birthday

Before going to celebrate Mom's Birthday meal, we (meaning Mom, Marc, his then-girlfriend Adele, and me) drove by our old house on Kimball Drive . The place looks bad since the new owners moved in. After this shocking experience, we drove through the cosmopolitan city of Milton to show Marc's then-girlfriend Adele where we went to junior high school. I didn't have the stomach to take pictures of Milton, so you'll just have to take my word for it. We also showed Adele where we used to dump our garbage. Then we went to celebrate Mom's Birthday meal.

We celebrated Mom's Birthday meal at RUTH'S CHRIS SteakHouse®, her favorite restaurant. We meaning Mom, Marc, Adele , and me. I took a closeup of Marc and Adele . Adele very kindly took a picture of Marc, me, and Mom . We had the Crab Cakes as an appetizer, and they were good. We ordered a bunch of Filet Mignons as a main course, along with the smothered spinach and some salads. Delicious eating. I loved it.

After lunch we drove around looking at various new developments/subdivisions in Lafayette. The sky was overcast, so I did not take any pictures. (My digital camera does not take good pictures when the sky is overcast.) The amount of people building new houses never ceases to amaze me.

We then went back to Mom's place and feasted on some some Birthday cake. Mom bought a Red Velvet cake from POUPART'S® Bakery on Pinhook Road. It was deliciou, although not as good as Aunt Lou's Red Velvet cake. I had 2 pieces, because 1 is not enough. To save Wendy from Birthday cake envy, I did not take any pictures of the Red Velvet cake. After stuffing ourselves with too much Red Velvet cake, we cheerfully sang "Happy Birthday" for Mom. Then we gave Mom her Birthday presents . Adele gave Mom a very pretty scarf, which I forgot to photograph (sorry Adele). Marc, Jackie and Steve, and I gave Mom a KITCHEN AID® Mixer . Mom was very happy with her gifts. After saying their goodbyes, Marc and Adele returned home to the Big Easy (New Orleans).

Mom and I then went to visit Aunt Dory . Aunt Dory was in good spirits, and we talked for an hour or 2. Aunt Dory showed us her baby pictures of Miles, Paul and Rochelle's son. He looks great. (For pictures of Miles, you will have to ask Paul.) Mom and I then returned home, and that was our Easter and Mom's Birthday celebration for 2000.
