I hiked up Chimney Rock early on February 09, 2013. The weather was snowy and overcast, creating a moody atmospheric look. I exposed 2 sheets of film (Fuji VELVIA 100 and Kodak EKTAR 100). The bottom part of Thunder Mountain is in the left foreground creating a strong diagonal and setting Coffeepot in place. Then comes Coffeepot in the midground, slightly hazy from the snow. Lastly is the "Fin" in the right background, almost completely obscured by the snow. I love the moody intense feeling that the snow storm creates in these images.
I took this photo with my Toyo METAL FIELD CAMERA with the 4x5 back and Rodenstock APO-SIRONAR-S 180mm f5.6 lens. I set the aperture to f22 and the shutter speed to 1/15 second for the Fuji VELVIA 100 photo above and 1/8 second for the Kodak EKTAR 100 photo below.
