SUNDAY - Easter

Sunday morning I got up around 8:30 again and worked on my laptop some more. Mom attended Easter Sunday Mass. Everybody else was a little slower getting up. Mom and Jackie went driving around to look at houses. We celebrated Mom's real Birthday Lunch at her favorite restaurant, RUTH'S CHRIS Steak House® (they are not open for lunch on Saturday). We meaning Mom , Jackie and Steve , Marc , and me. RUTH'S CHRIS® was delicious as usual. Steve ordered his usual bottle of red wine, which we all drank. I ordered the crab cakes, which were outstanding. Delicious eating. Unfortunately, I forgot to bring my camera with me, so I do not have any pictures of lunch. However, Jackie did remember her camera, so talk to her about copies of pictures of our lunch.

After lunch we returned home to eat some more birthday cake. Aunt Dory joined us around that time. We then just sat around the house watching TV, while Jackie and Steve packed. Around 4 we drove Jackie and Steve to the airport. As usual, we had a mix-up with the airline. Steve and Jackie were almost stuck in Lafayette for another hour. At the last minute the airline came through with seats for Jackie and Steve, and all was well. Mom, Marc, and I watched them depart on time. Then we went home to watch more mindless movies, but not BEN-HUR®. And such was our Easter Sunday for 2001.

This Easter was the last Easter that Mom was healthy enough to enjoy all of the foods that she loved. She started chemotherapy a couple of weeks later, and the chemo restricted what she could do and eat for the rest of her life. On a more positive note, she bought a house nearby and moved into it shortly after starting chemo. This move brought her a tremendous relief and happiness after suffering with her townhouse for about 2 years. Her new house was a much happier place and experience for all of us.
