This past November Marc's college buddy Joan came to Arizona to visit us for a couple of days.

SUNDAY - Brunch at L'AUBERGE DE SEDONA®

Sunday morning (well actually almost noon) Adele and I met Marc and Keri and Marc's college buddy Joan (I last saw her at Christmas 2001) and Joan's husband Ron at L'AUBERGE DE SEDONA® for brunch. Joan formally introduced us to Ron (my 1st time meeting him). Ron regaled us with several tales from Texas. And of course we caught up with both of their adventures in the last few years. They live near Austin, which is a beautiful part of Texas. They still travel, although not as much as before they got married. After an enjoyable meal, Adele and I returned home to mellow out while Marc, Joan and Ron went hiking to burn off all of those calories!

MONDAY - Dinner at DAHL & DiLUCA®.

Monday evening I got together with Marc and Keri and Joan and Ron for dinner at DAHL & DiLUCA®. I cannot recall anything other than eating a lot of great food. And of course after eating all of that great food we needed a strenuous hike to burn it off...

TUESDAY - Hiking Westfork with Marc, Joan and Ron.

So, Tuesday morning I went hiking with Marc, Joan and Ron in Oak Creek Canyon. We hiked the popular Westfork trail. When we started the temperature was a balmy 39 degrees Fahrenheit in the sun. And we were rarely in the sun at the trail head. Probably because of the cold weather, we encountered very few people. We initially explored the homestead house built into a large rock/hill. Then we started hiking the trail properly. I only brought my film camera and 1 roll of film, so I ran out of film about halfway through the hike. And to make matters worse, my hands were shaky and I ended up with a lot of blurry shots (Note to self: always bring a tripod!). So what you see here is all I got. Marc , Joan and Ron did much better with their digital cameras and iPhone®s. We walked the trail up to the part where the wash was full of icy cold water. We figured walking in cold water when temps were about 40 degrees was not a brillianrt idea (although that did not stop other hikers). At that point we turned around and made our way back to the car. I really enjoyed Westfork and want to return to hike it again sometime soon. And preferably during the off season for tourists. Westfork is a magnificent wilderness area and a fun hike.

On the way home, Marc dropped off Joan and Ron at a local restaurant because they were really hungry. He then dropped me off, and I subsequently went out for lunch as well. And that was our hike and visit for Tuesday.

WEDNESDAY - Saying Goodbye

Wednesday Joan and Ron left for the airport, vowing to return again (hopefully soon). And that was their visit for 2012.
