SATURDAY - Afternoon with Uncle Bill and Lynne, David and Marc, and Mike

After visiting with Aunt Pat and MarLyn and our Maddux cousins, Marc and I returned to our hotel to recover, then drove over to Uncle Bill and Lynne's house to visit some more. Lynne showed us the amazing 1956 Singer sewing machine that she scored with the accessories and manuals. Then Uncle Bill showed us the old Maddux family house in Warrenton on GOOGLE EARTH and printed out the satellite image of the house and surrounding area. So we are finally going to see it next August when we visit Jackie and Steve!

Then Lynne showed us Grandma Maddux's Singer FEATHERWEIGHT Sewing Machine. This sewing machine is in great condition and is capable of sewing even now. Hint, hint, Jackie :-)

Later, David and Marc joined us, along with Mike, Tom, and we had fun visiting for a couple of hours. David and Marc left just before 05:00PM for David's 35th High School Reunion (once again: Time flies). David seemed to look forward to seeing his old classmates. I forgot to ask how many other high school reunions he attended over the years.

We then ordered out for some Chinese food, which Lynne very kindly picked up for all of us. Plenty of godo veggies and some shrimp and beef and rice. I felt starving and ate a lot. Uncle Bill started choking during the meal. Mike spent some time with him and decided that he needed to go to the ER (a wise decision). So we drove over to the ER, where the doctors examined Uncle Bill after some time. They found nothing in his esophagus or throat and felt that he had an allergic reaction to the shrimp. They advised him to stay away from seafood/shellfish. After determining that Uncle Bill was okay, we said our goodbyes and returned to our hotel sometime after 10:00PM. We felt exhausted after all of that excitement... because it wouldn't be a Maddux family visit without some life-threatening excitement!

While waiting for the doctors to examine Uncle Bill, Mike introduced us to his childhood friend Dale Fuller, who was also at the hospital to visit his new grandchild. On other Maddux fmaily news: Mike and Lisa's son Alec is graduating from college soon and planning to move up near Jackie and Steve after graduation. Tanner is living with Mike and Lisa and continuing to work on his Ford MUSTANG. Lisa and the boys are all doing well. Mike is still planning to hike the Pacific Crest Trail from Mexico to Canada, just like in the movie WILD. Although I hope that he will skip the part about tearing off his toenails! Mike also told me about a full tilt 3 sheets to the wind rock climber named Alex Honnold. Definitely out of my league for rock climbing!
