FRIDAY - Visiting Family around Houston

Visiting with Uncle Jimmy

We drove up to see Uncle Jimmy that morning. He was happy to see us and visit. Uncle Jimmy seemed a little tired this visit. He told us stories about teaching Mom and Aunt Bert how to drive. He also told us about working in Calgary and Edmonton, Canada, in particular how cold and rustic it was. Jimbo and Kristin's older son Zach just graduated from high school. Susie and Phil drove Uncle Jimmy out to the graduation and back. Apparently Zach will be attending Texas A&M but will not be joining the Corps. Kind of a mixed blessing :-) Susie and Phil are still up in northeast Texas working. Their kids Andy and Stephanie are around Houston working as well. We also discussed the USA, European, and Chinese economies, as well as the global economic outlook (not good). After a couple of hours, we said our gooodbyes and drove back to Houston. I was happy to see Uncle Jimmy but concerned about his health (he did not look good). We hope to see him again next year looking better than this trip.

After visiting with Uncle Jimmy for a while, Marc and I drove back to Houston and did a little shopping at the Houston GALLERIA® for home. We ate dinner at RUGGLES GREEN®. Yummy organic food that really hits the spot. Then we drove out to see Julie and Rusty.

Visiting with Julie and Rusty

We managed to arrive at their house without getting lost (for a change), which was kind of nice. Julie and Rusty were looking great. Their older son Eric just graduated in May with Freddie and Cris's son Adam with their M.B.A.s. Julie and Rusty even got to visit with Freddie and Cris at the graduation ceremony. Kevin is doing great at L.S.U. He flew to Japan in May for an internship, then on to Washington, D.C., for another internship. He is turning into quite the journalist. Rusty regaled us with tales of participating in the "Iron Warrior" Marathon down in Norco and New Orleans. Uncle Tom had some health issues but seems to be doing well now.

In other Pitre family news, Honore and Marie's daughter Delaina had a baby shower at their home in July. Jo-Jo is still in Houston and doing great. His daughters Channing and Kingsley are also doing well.

We finally all got tired out and said our goodbyes. And such was our Friday visits this year.
