Normally I do not post webpages on funerals, especially our family's funerals. However, our cousin Julie suggested that I do so because so many of our rarely-seen relatives appeared for her mother's funeral (Aunt Hazel). So here is the background. Julie and Claire's Mom Aunt Hazel passed away a couple of weeks ago. John Dempsey conducted the wake and the funeral. Afterwards, we gathered at Julie and Rusty's home for food and visiting. I did not recognize all of the people at Julie and Rusty's, so for everybody who attended, please feel free to e-mail me and identify the unknowns.

When I arrived at Julie and Rusty's house, I took several pictures. According to Julie, Shelby and Juanita are 1st cousins from her Dad's (Uncle Tom's) side of the family. Shelby is the son of Uncle Tom's sister Ruth. Juanita is the daughter of Julia (who I guess is another of Uncle Tom's sisters). Aunt Julia goes by her nickname of "Monkey".

Freddy's wife Chris was also present, but I am not sure I got a picture of her. For those poor souls who have not mastered the Pitre family tree, Freddy is Aunt Agnes and Uncle Percy's older son. Freddy also attended Uncle Jack's funeral last December. He has talked about organizing a cousin get-together for May or June of this year. Felix is Uncle Dallas and Aunt Lou's oldest son; Gai is his wife. Aunt Lou and Dallas, Junior, did not make it to the funeral due to flooding. The Acadiana area got a lot of rain the day before and the day of Aunt Hazel's funeral.

Next up we have Marc (my brother), Aunt Bert still chowing down, Mike, and Uncle Jimmy back with seconds. Mike is Aunt Marilyn and Uncle Irving's son. Mike stays pretty busy, so we do not see him too often. Moving right along, we have John Dempsey chowing down, Susie, Julie, the back of Freddy's head, and Felix. Susie is Aunt Bert and Uncle Jimmy's daughter. Susie is another rarely-seen cousin. We are hoping that will change soon. Julie is Aunt Hazel and Uncle Tom's oldest daughter. Now we have a picture of the living room from the bedroom side, with somebody unknown in the kitchen, Aunt Bert, Juanita, Aunt Dory, Aunt Julia/"Monkey's" husband Uncle Joe, Shelby, and Aunt Julia/"Monkey"and part of John Dempsey. Working from the back forward, we have unknown people in the kitchen, Claire, Cathy, Aunt Julia/"Monkey", Aunt Dory, Uncle Jimmy and Aunt Bert. Claire is Aunt Hazel and Uncle Tom's younger daughter; that is, Julies younger sister. Cathy is Claire's friend. In a stunning display of photographic ability, we have Jo-Jo's nose and lower face, a little bit of Eric, Marc, Cathy, Mom and Julie sitting on the sofa, Rochelle, Aunt Bert and Uncle Jimmy and Susie and Gene and Ruby Thompson in the kitchen. As you can see, Mom's hair has grown back and she is bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. Jo-Jo is Freddy's younger brother. Eric is 1 of Felix's younger brothers. Rochelle is married to Rusty's brother Paul, so she is Julie's sister-in-law. Ruby and Gene Thompson are Rusty's Mother and Step-Father.

And finally, to finish off these pictures, is a dazed and confused picture of Freddy, Gai and Felix. And that was about it for the gathering at Julie and Rusty's.
