The reason Aunt Lou stayed for the night is that Felix and Gai decided to celebrate Gai's birthday on Saturday. With a crawfish boil no less. I of course valiantly offered to sacrifice myself and eat all them mudbugs to keep Felix and Gai from gaining weight. Strangely, enough, they refused my offer. Aunt Lou left before Mom and me. Shortly after we arrived, Marc and his girlfriend Dara arrived. Felix and Gai invited some of their friends over as well, so some of us ate inside and the rest ate outside. Seeing as the weather was cooling off, us wimps ate inside. The wimps included Marc and Dara, Aunt Dory, Aunt Lou, Mom , and me of course :-) The brave souls who ate outside were Anne and Robert Landrenau, Felix (eclipsed by), Lisa Kaufman, and the birthday lady, Gai . The crawfish were delicious, seasoned very well. Felix is an expert crawfish boiler :-)
Mom and I also brought Gai a gift from our family: a print of cousin Mary Anne's painting . Mary Anne is our family's resident artistic genius. The original painting, a pastel, is of a movie theater in Ruston, Louisiana. The colors came out very good in the print. So I am putting in this unabashed plug for Mary Anne's artwork :-)
And that was our week of Birthdays.
