Okay technically, these photos do not have Fall colors. But I like them so I am including them. These Sycamores are about a half hour's walk from my house. I walked to them early in the morning on Mother's Day. The Sycamores are actually growing in a wash. I took these photos with my Fuji GW680III Medium Format Rangefinder camera with a Fuji FUJINON 90mm f5.6 lens (which I subsequently sold)and Fuji VELVIA 100 color slide film. I did use a tripod for these photos; normally, I shoot these rangefinders handheld.

The above photo is more of an establishing shot; the Sycamores are in the center behind some Juniper trees on the right and a hill on the left. Behind the Sycamores is the opposite bank of the wash and more Juniper trees. The shadows create a nice reversed L shape, directing your eye through the image.

I took the photo below as more of an artsy image, paying attention to positive and negative shapes. I stood on the opposite side of the Sycamores from the above photo. The Juniper trees and shadows again form an L shape. The image has a nice balance of shadows and light, the Sycamore tree trunk and branches create fascinating negative shapes, the muted red color of the dirt and rocks harmonizes nicely with the greens of the trees and the blue of the sky. Kind of a weird and soothing image at the same time.

I like both of these photos, but prefer the photo below. I really like the artsy composition.
