The next morning (the 27th) I returned to the Skyline to the Sea Trail to reshoot some of my previous compositions. The photo above is a repeat of a previous shot, taken from a slightly different angle. I feel that this photo works better than the previous shot because the tree top is almost completely unobscured. However, I like them both.
The next 2 photos are a "Faerie Ring" located along the left side of the trail. I love how the Redwood tree trunks lying on the ground direct your eye through the scene. Really cool! In the horizontal/landscape photo, the tree trunks are moving your eye diagonally through the scene. In the vertical/portrait photo, the tree trunks are more horizontal thereby breaking up the monotony of the Redwood trees standing vertically. I really want to reshoot this scene with my large format camera; a trip for another time!
