I returned to the same area the following year (2008). This time around I took several lenses and photographed the same scene using the different lenses. I used my Ebony SV810 8x10 camera and Fuji VELVIA 50 color slide film on both photos. I used VELVIA 50 rather than VELVIA 100 to get more saturated colors (and it worked). I used a Rodenstock SIRONAR-S 360mm f6.8 lens for the above photo. I like the large orange leaves on the Maple in the right foreground and how it leads your eye into the image from right to left, towards the center. I also like the double complementary color contrast of the orange Maple leaves with the blue rocks and the red Maple leaves with the green leaves of the other trees.
I took the photo below several minutes later. In this image the red Maple leaves are more prominent, with the yellow-green leaves in the left foreground working together with the orange Maple leaves to create a frame for the red Maple leaves. The image also feels darker and more intense than the image above.
I like both photos; they each have their own impact.
