SUNSET ON COCKSCOMB

August 2008

I traded in my Ebony RW45 4x5 camera for an Ebony SV57 5x7 camera in June. The SV57 turned out to have a light leak in the bellows near the back standard, and most of my 5x7 photos did not come out good. I finally figured out how to cover the camera to prevent the light leak from affecting my photos. At that point (August) I decided to sell my SV57 (I subsequently got another SV57 which worked great, although sadly I sold that camera as well). I exposed 1 last box of film of the sunset on Cockscomb and the sunrise on the Aerie. The sunrise photos came out alright, not spectacular. However, the sunset photos came out awesome, truly amazing. The sky had some gigantic clouds, they caught the setting sunlight just right, everything came together perfectly. The 2 photos posted here were my favorites. I love these photos.

I took these photos with my Ebony SV57 5x7 camera, Rodenstock APO-SIRONAR-S 300mm f5.6 lens, and Fuji VELVIA 100F color slide film.
