SUNSET ON COCKSCOMB

I was experimenting with different slide films: VELVIA 100, VELVIA 100F, and VELVIA 50. I liked VELVIA 100 the best. I tried VELVIA 100F because I was thinking about getting a 5x7 camera, and I thought that Fuji only offered VELVIA 100F in 5x7 (I have since learned that Fuji does offer VELVIA 100 in 5x7, but you have to special order it from Japan). VELVIA 100F is close to VELVIA 100 but slightly muted. VELVIA 50 looks very similar to VELVIA 100 in colors, but the images are not as sharp and the yellows are oranger.

Also, I was comparing regular hand loaded sheet film with QuickLoad film. I did not like the QuickLoads because only about 2/3 of my exposures came out, whereas with regular sheet film all of my exposures came out (barring a mistake of course).

In this photo I really like the analogous color scheme of the sky: orange, red, and purple. The image has a warm, and at the same time quiet, feel to it. Very simple, direct composition in terms of shapes.

I took these photos with my Ebony RW45 4x5 camera, Rodenstock APO-SIRONAR-S 240mm f5.6 lens, and Fuji VELVIA 100F color slide film.
