I hiked early on a cold still morning in November 2007. I had my medium format camera for about a couple of weeks and was learning to shoot film. I hiked up "Baby" Bell Rock. I went to photograph the sunrise on Bell Rock and Courthouse Butte and only photographed Cathedral Rock as an afterthought. When I got my developed film back, I discovered that my photos of Bell Rock and Courthouse Butte were pretty boring. However, 1 of my photos of Cathedral Rock actually came out interesting. I felt that the composition was simple and direct and really liked it.
I took this photo with my MAMIYA M645 AFD-II camera and 55-110mm zoom lens with Fuji VELVIA 100 color slide film.
